Jennifer Ortiz, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Jennifer Ortiz was born and raised in Pearl, Mississippi, where she spent her entire childhood surrounded by family and community. The daughter of Mexican parents, Jennifer is proudly bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English fluently.

Jennifer graduated from Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi, before pursuing her lifelong dream of working with animals. She enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program at Hinds Community College, a journey she describes as the most challenging — yet rewarding — experience of her life. While completing her studies, she worked at Brandon Veterinary Clinic in Brandon, Mississippi, where she gained hands-on experience and learned the practical skills that shaped her into the veterinary professional she is today. In May 2022, Jennifer proudly graduated from the program, and in June 2022, she became a Certified Veterinary Technician after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam.

Jennifer has always known she was meant to work in veterinary medicine. As a child, she was the one rescuing animals — even if it occasionally meant bringing home ringworm from picking up strays she probably shouldn’t have! Her passion for animal care has remained unwavering ever since.

In 2023, Jennifer met her fiancé, Rafael, who is a marine veteran. Together, they spent two and a half years traveling across the country for his job, living in Michigan, New Jersey, South Dakota, Texas, and California. Although the adventure was exciting and full of new experiences, the constant moving eventually became tiring. After visiting her mother-in-law and falling in love with the breathtaking valley views, Jennifer and Rafael decided to settle down in Alpine, Wyoming, where they now call home.

Jennifer shares her life with her beloved “fur kids” — Ember, Carmen, Hershey, and Oreo — who continually remind her why she chose this profession. She is thrilled to begin this next chapter and looks forward to building lasting relationships with the wonderful clients and furry companions at Bridger Animal Hospital and Haystack Pet Resort.
